Boris the blind bull. He was too difficult for the farmer to look after (yuck) so the folk at Brinsley adopted him and gave him a loving home for life. Never has the term 'Gentle Giant' been more apt. Such an amazingly enormous and powerful fella, yet he chooses to do nothing but love with all his might. What a gent.
Beautiful.
This naughty little pair of squawkers took a real disliking to Dan haha, they tried their best to chase him off their field...what the camera missed was them actually catching up with him and biting his ankle! Haha!
Look how furious he is the little stinker!
These little baby beauties don't have names yet, they've just arrived at the sanctuary. I dread to think what happened to their friends for whom there wasn't enough space at Brinsley.
You think dogs are playful and full of character? You ain't seen nothing until you've played tug of war with a piglet! Such little scamps, so funny and mischievous!
And the chubbiest, laziest resident of all, Rocky. This chap was all about the belly scratches - just lay there grunting away demanding a fuss from every passer by! I fell head over heels in love with him and was more than disgusted to hear people talking about bacon and sausages in front of him. I had to try to not think about it too much or I literally would have had a nervous break down - what is wrong with people!?!
Wow, they're all so gorgeous! I just adore pigs so much and loved the pig barn when we visited the New York Farm Sanctuary. The grunts are just the cutest! That's horrendous that people were talking about bacon & sausage like that. Ugh.
ReplyDeleteFabulous photos!! The piglets are too cute!
ReplyDeleteI hope I can make it to a farm sanctuary one day! Tho I cannot believe people would bring up eating meat at a sanctuary! They should be slapped!
Excellent photos. Thanks for sharing them...Boris is very impressive. People talking about death and killing at a rescue is a sad example of pervasive and thorough brainwashing most folks have been influenced by.
ReplyDeleteThere's just nothing like visiting an animal sanctuary like this to really bring home why we're vegan and who we're doing it for! What a wonderful place. I sent the link to a vegan friend in England in case she might have an opportunity to visit it too. I love the photos of Dan with the geese especially, and adore gentle Boris and the piggies!
ReplyDeleteI truly wonder (with no small amount of disgust) what would possess people as disconnected as the "bacon and sausage" bunch to visit a farmed animal sanctuary, especially one with vegan values! I'd guess their insensitive cracks were an attempt to mask the considerable discomfort that comes from meeting would-be sources of tragic breakfasts face to face, and being confronted with the truth that those beautiful critters and the sanctuary have to teach them.
What great pictures! I love the ones of Dan, especially, being chased by those geese. So funny. We have a similar sanctuary near us that we support.
ReplyDeleteyou haven't been around for a while..... i hope everything is okay
ReplyDeletethis is awesome! i am working towards opening a farm animal sanctuary myself :)
